it seems to me that i have a tired cam follower that is not to bad when the engine is cold but when its warm tends to wake up, low engine rpm it isnt really audible but is definately noticable at higher rpm, mostly cruising with the engine in the 3-4 thou range, since i hav owned the car i hav done about 400 miles, to me if it was gonna shut up it would hav done it by now(it was stood a while before i bought it)... will it eventually shut up or hav i to get the spanners out??? the oil is relatively new... the engine has done about 112 thou miles... cheers watto...

So let me get this straight its got a tapping noise on the top end.

Right then:

1. Check the spark plugs are done up properly
2. The hydraulic tappets are rarely a problem on these i'm afraid
3. You've most likely bought a badly repaired cam belt snapper and it will need the head taking off and new valves and guides fitting.

Sorry about that mate...
