Hi all,

As above really, Im am quite capable as a mechanice (or so i'd like to think!)

Any ideas on time? tools needed?

Hoping to have two trolly jacks to help.

My plan is to remove it, paint the under carriage and also pain the rear beam.

Many thanks,

Matt

its easy, take the rear calipers off, dont need to undo brake lines, undo lower shock bolts and remove brake associated bits from the shock bolts.
put two jacks under beam to support.
get inside car and remove grommets from floor.
undo four bolts in total at front and two bolts in total from rear.

it may also help to have a scissor jack under one of the trailing arms when you lower because when the bolts come out of florrpan holes the whole beam will swing round due to weight.

once the beam if off car be carefull with rear end as it will now be very light and easily moveable i.e fall of axle stands.

Don´t forget ABS wiring, if it´s a car fitted with ABS of course.

Follow the instructions in the FAQ that leave the brakes connected to the car. It can be a c*nt to split some of the unions otherwise.

had mine off last weekend about 6 times to sort some rear beam mounts [bas**rds!] out which kept breaking. bit easier on mine like with stainless hose and no spare wheel but still easy to do. as above. jack up onto axle stands, handbrake off and put in reverse. backbox off, spare wheel i guess. loosen beam mounts and support weight on trolley jacks at each side. handbrake cable support bracket etc.. depends what you're doing - removing mounts only requires it dropped but paint obviously you need it all out
