Thanks,

Will investigate this later then, I have a big bag of old aftermarket stereo wiring which I kept just incase that may be suitable as its large gauge cable.

Have you a photo example of yours?

Bit different then with your battery being relocated.

Gives me an idea though, will have to take the battery tray out and pick through the loom! The earthing points don't need to be to bare metal do they, just as long as they aren't oxidised and manky terminals.

I very much doubt you will find any dodgy earths mate, i went through the car with a fine tooth coomb when fitting the kit.

They really should be, and they should also be nicely greased up to help prevent elecrolytic action when they get damp. (Basicly stops em going all green and corroded)

Carl, dont doubt that you did but the phase 2 xsara has that many earths in the loom it wouldnt be hard for one to have been dislodged. The best thing that could be done with this car is ripping out the loom and replacing a lot of it with phase 1 parts / wiring and putting in an aftermarket computer - which was no doubt suggested but would involve a fair cost.

I started to have issues after I had removed the battery to change the clutch cable, the negative has a couple of wires with electrical tape around them.

When I am back from my holidays ill have a proper look over it, take the tape off, might just have fatigued a connection.

Back from my holidays so had a quick look.

Was some electrical tape on one of the negative terminals, so peeled it off and these wires popped out easy peasy so think this will be the cause of all my faults.

Possibly. That looks liek quite a clean connection though so as long as it was all touching it probably would have worked ok. Fingers crossed thats it Smile

Ill buy some eyelets and solder one or two of the wires onto each eyelet.

I don't think the tip of my iron is large enough to do them all at once so I won't attempt it. I only have a small tip, for fine gauge wiring after the tips/iron was discontinued.

Thats a job for tomorrow/the weekend as it looks like rain again!

Use a blow torch if u you going to solder, can get them from halfords,

Or clamp in vice, then solder if you can't get the proper crimp

Yeah thats been suggested on the Xsara OC.

I think ill tin all the wires using my iron. Then switch to the blowtorch and attach them all in the existing crimp. Dunno

Crimped them all individually onto proper crimps, seems to have made a difference but not perfect, no more issues with the indicators anyway!
