Hi,

I am advancing my inlet cam on the s16 and had a few questions I was hoping someone could answer.

Would a drill bit be strong enough to lock the cam pulley while I loosen the centre bolt?

How do I lock the inlet cam pulley (once it is advanced (timing holes won't be aligned)) to tighten the centre bolt back up?

Thankyou

yeah, a drill bit will be fine (may be tricky getting in the available space?) although the torque setting isn't as tight as you'd think and advise using a little loctite.

Is the cam pulley not adjustable type like on gti6's where the pulley and timing hole don't move but the cam itself does?

Thanks for your help ablister,

I am not sure on the S16 setup but I am hoping it's the same as the gti6.

cheers

noooo! never use the locking pin to hold it whilst you loosen the bolt!

S16 with the RFY engine does not have adjustable cam pulleys btw.

Can you please suggest something else I could use?

It's my first time in the 306 cambelt area, so any advice would be appreciated.

Whip the cam cover off & put a spanner on the hex cast into the cam/s (22mm I think it is).

Mucho safer than the locating pins.

Thanks guys, got the pulley bolt out without too much trouble. Now I can't get the cam pulley offLOL

Is there a way to get these off without using a puller?

cheers
