Hi Guys

My acceleration has been doing strange things over the last 72 hours. If you are in say third and plant the throttle the car revs but with no response for a few seconds, then the revs dip and i get power. I have also had a lumpy idle after this?

Any thoughts??

Slipping clutch Yes

Get it sorted before you lose drive altogether and get stranded somewhere.

The idle could well be an ICV issue.

so if the engine is reving at 3500rpm with the clutch pedal not engaged, and i plant the throttle and the engine revs but no power for 4 seconds, then the power comes back in, its not the clutch slipping??? could it be a faulty senser??

The clutch isn't that hard to replace yourself if you wanna save a few beans (cost around £100 of gsf/ecp, or get a 2nd hand one of here if your lucky for under £50?)

Fitted, between 250-£300 iirc Wink

It can vary. Get a genuine valeo clutch, they are about £100 IIRC, another few hundred quid on top of that for labour if you take it to a good independent garage.

Idle problem will be due to a dirty/faulty ICV (stepper motor). Take it out and clean it with WD40 or carb cleaner. It will still be lumpy as the ECU takes a few minutes to adjust. If it still persists replace it. £70ish for a new one.

NO, that means your clutch is splipping as i mentioned before.

However, see what the other opinions and comments bring Wink

+1. Classic symptom of a slipping clutch!
