Have an annoying problem with my XUD9 actually first problem ever.

Occasionaly it decides not to start.
Now the following checks have been done.
Glowplugs are all new and working ( relay box also checked

Cranks but never start, leave it for a couple of hours or a day and starts first time then !!Wink

What could it possibly be ? Have a bosch diesel pump on it and has an original immobiliser solenoid, could it be it ?

ANy help and tips are greatly appreciated.

check that the priming bulb is working, it should go fairly stiff without too many squashes, if it doesn't there is a leak upstream i.e anywhere forwards of the bulb, which would be injector unions/pipes (though you'd know about this with a loud ticking usually) or injector leakoff pipes split.

the other cause which is getting more common is the one way valve in the priming bulb broken, its part of it but available from Peugeot for about £18.

try parking it with the front down hill.

to check that the stop solenoids are working crack off an injector pipe and crank it over, do take care with the diesel spraying out, it is at very high pressure (175 BAR)

next time try bleeding the air out of the diesel system as you would after changing the diesel filter, if it goes then check the filter seals before getting too excited

This was like what my 505 diesel was like, turned out to be the filter diesel seals as said Smile
