Hi,
Im quite new to this, i had a quick search around the forums but i didnt really find anything solid on the issue.

Heres the problem, sometimes the engine will just cut out from idle and refuse to start unless i use more throttle. it just isnt holding idle revs at all.

If anyone could help or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

check stepper motor (bad connectors, dirt)
check for vacuum leaks .
check spark plugs wires .
try to arrange another good stepper motor for test.

Although it's no longer available new, it's worth trying to get hold of a good example second-hand. As GTi's get tubbier and cooler, it's nice to remind yourself of why insurance companies hate hot-hatches so much.-Top Gear on the 6 Apr '01. Black 6
