Been noticing a fair bit of movement in the car so decided to check under the bonnet... after giving it a bit of a rev became apparent my top engine mount is fubarred... meaning there's alot of engine movement - not good.

Anyone know how easy / costly it is to sort this? Where can I get a replacement mount and, just on the off chance, any of you local Norfolk fellows know a good garage / mechanic that could help??

Cheers

Mounts can be got from Peugeot, Baker B&M or Miles to name a few. It's a pretty straightforward job to replace a mount with basic socketry, some allen keys, a hammer and drift or big flatblade srewdriver (to remove the old mount) and a jack to support the engine from underneath while you remove the top mounting arm. (Use a thick piece of plywood or similar to spread the load if you are going to support the engine by the sump, especially if your jack has a small pad, I have a lifting beam I use to support the engine by it's lifting lug but it's not really necessary if you are careful) You may find that once you get the mount off there are signs of a crack in the chassis cup that the mount screws into. I sell a repair section on it's own for fitment by yourself or your local welder. PM me if you need some more details.

I reckon its the welding thats given up the ghost. When I bought the car it had a broken mount so a new one was fitted - so you wouldn't think it would be that.

Daveyboy if you were closer to me I would take you up on your services!

it be highly suprised if when you take that off the chassis isnt cracked under it, which is very common.

I'll see if I can get it looked at - don't wanna drive it in case it puts stress on the other mounts and means more £££££'s! Trying to sell it at the moment tho so i've reduced the price in case someone else can get it sorted themselves

In the garage being sorted... apparently the bottom one wasn't in a good way.. something to do with a stabilizer bar??? and the top needed a new cradle?? Things may have been lost in translation as my Dad spoke to the mechanic and tried to relay back to me!
