Hi guys,

I am totally confused please help.

My garage has ordered new valves for my head and when they arrived my mechanic said they were too big. He measured the valves that are currently in the head and the motor shop said they valves are for 130bhp!!!

As far as I knew you could only put a GTI6 head on a GTI6.

Can anyone shed any light on why I have 130bhp size valves in my head. As far as I am aware there has not been anything changed.

the marks on the block are the same between the 135 and 167 bhp engines, the cylinder head is where all the important differences are.

the RS head has an "RS" cast into the end next to the thermostat housing, as well as oil spray bars for the camshafts, the different sized valves, a camshaft sensor, also a vacuum pump.
