Hi guys,

I am totally confused please help.

My garage has ordered new valves for my head and when they arrived my mechanic said they were too big. He measured the valves that are currently in the head and the motor shop said they valves are for 130bhp!!!

As far as I knew you could only put a GTI6 head on a GTI6.

Can anyone shed any light on why I have 130bhp size valves in my head. As far as I am aware there has not been anything changed.

CheersSad

A proper GTi6 head (J4RS) has 34.1mm inlets & 30.6mm exhaust diameter valves.

The 138 hp engine (J4R) head has the same size valves as the 1.9 & 2.0 litre Mi16 heads-34.6mm inlet & 29.7mm exhaust.

Yeh that's right my head has the RS on it along with the oil spray bars for the cams, camshaft sensor and vacuum pump. I think it may just be the motor shop describing them differently as I have had a few S16's and 6's and this one feels quicker than them
