Anything with mostly foam, like ITG, Pipercross or similar won't do much to keep noise in.

remove the lower cover of the standard box and you get huge noise - its sounds crap and you wont then be able to put a standard filter back in but hey ho.....

at least whats what some dick has done to mine I discovered today - so if anyone has a standard airbox they want to sell PM me Smile

I'd consider a quiet air filter. You don't want to draw attention to your rusty 306.

All this assuming the seller doesn't flog it to somebody else before you collect it. Whistle

i have a pipercross viper for sale in the parts for sale forum now. Just fitted mine - very load without the cold air intake on it, sounded a bit like a scooby burble i thought. I've now put the cold air feed on it which mutes the sound a bit but that would be the case with any cold air intake - its a trade off between extra power or noise - know which one i'd take.

but dont get me wrong - still much louder than oe.

You will need more than cams and a good exhaust to get that Chris, you cant't run lairy enough cams with enough advance with the standard pistons as the valve reliefs are so small. Unless you are going to take the pistons out and sort them?

Why not sell the standard engine and buy the 210bhp lump Darrelspeed has up for sale?
