Hey,

I've got a 205 with a 306 gti6 engine installed. I had problems with the idle being a bit high. I replaced this with a ECP 57 pound one. At this point I also carried out a ECU reset.

The idle seemed to have sorted itself until I took the car for a 'spirited drive'. When pulling up at junctions the revs fly up to 3k. I have to keep dipping the clutch to stop the car revving so much!

Now i've tried a new MAP, ICV and given the induction system a good clean with carb cleaner. Still the same. What does the Vehicle speed sensor do? would this have anything to do with a high idle after a motorway run?

Can anybody point in the right direction on getting this sorted as I loathe to take the car out for a thrash. Cheers in advance! Smile

A few things I've heard on here that could be causing it...
Throttle position sensor...
or a leak in the inlet system i.e a crack in the resonator (the plastic bit attached to the underside of the manifold)

almost 100% the icv will not have power, often when the looms are wired up the live to the icv is not connected. The car will run without this live but it will cause idle like you explain

As said, could be a number of thing's, But with 99% of conversion's the wiring is the bigest issue, The amount I;ve rer-wired now is almost silly and some are just outragious in how they have been done even by well known companies.

Ok, there is no resonator, this was removed and the hole was welded up. No cracks there.

I removed the ICV from its housing and switched the ignition to the first click, on off on off and the ICV goes in and out. Does this prove it has a feed?

I doubt it's this but check that your throttle closes properly.

Also maybe replace your inlet manifild gasket and check everywhere for leaks.

Well if the little bobbin on the ICV goes in and out when i switch the ignition on and off dosen't that kinda prove it has a feed?

First thing I checked mate. Closes properly.

When I put my finger over the housing where the ICV is. The idles dies down and eventually stalls. This probably proves there are no leaks. The inlet manifold is brand new.

Give all your vacuum pipes a thorough check over. Especially the plastic one running from the inlet manifold to the vac pump.

Do your brakes feel ok?

a guy I know had a loom done by "pug1off" for a multiplex (think thats right) 106 car to be able to fit a single plug 106 gti engine...
all the warning lights on the dash are on and he has no rev counter or speedo (going by sat nav) which shocked me
