The basic way to make them quicker cheaply is light wheels, good suspension, good brakes and ditch the interior. Save your money for you project ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

I will need the interior as it's my everyday car.So not worth changing cams and getting it remapped? It possibly already has suspension done. Think it's just springs and torsion bar adjusted. Whats the best suspension parts to improve handling but no compramise daily useage Most of my money will be going into the track impreza so no looking to spend more than a couple of grand |

From then on it's time to start refreshing wishbone bushes, rear beam mounts, droplinks and other perishable components. Brake pads, decent fluid and braided lines will make a noticable difference to the overall feel of the car too. Chuck on some decent rubber and you will soon have a car that is crying out for a little more power. A decat and a set of Piper PT81 cams or similar is usually a good way to free up 10-15 extra horsies, but get it done by someone who knows these engines inside out as valve to piston clearance is next to bugger all as standard. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I had my reasons... the last one blew up You have to be really, really careful putting anything worthwhile cams wise into it with the piston clearance, but figure on cams and a remap costing at least £500 and you still probably won't see 200BHp. I'd get some decent dampers on it - Bilstein B8s and a larger rear ARB. The rear damper quality is by far the most important part in the handling on these imo. ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |
