recently replaced gearbox in my ph2 6 with 2nd hand box new driveshaft seals, clutch fitted etc. was told usual rubbish only 70k etc ran no prob. fitted box when on idle sounds like idler rattling, as soon as driven returned to find box leaking from ns shaft replaced seal again to find same prob. any ideas plz?Sad

are you fitting them flush? if so they shouldn't be, they should protrude about 1.5mm.

also many cheap factor sourced seals are poor quality.

Is there a deffinitive way of fitting them correctly? Or is it a case of tapping them home with a suitably sized socket?

Do they leak if they are pushed in flush then?

Reason for the questions, im replacing my n/s driveshaft seal on wednesday and want to make sure i do it right first time. Big grin

have tried 2 brands so far not sure which, seals when located are flush with box, not protruding out? would u recommend genuine seals?
