Hi,Please can someone offer advice about front wiper relays on a 2001 peugeot 306 meridian?
Basically the wipers have packed up completely now, initially stopped in the middle of the screen but then they worked briefly a day later a few more times - then stopped forever.
I hope that replacing the relay will fix them?
Also, in the fuse box there are two PURPLE boxes, is the one to the left that simply un-plugs (pulls out) the front wiper relay?
And where is the best place to purchase a new one from please?
If it is not the relay at fault, does it mean the front wiper motor is broken?
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

The 2 purple relays usually control the wipers and the auto sensor IIRC. It's usually either the relays or the motor that goes wrong, both are easy to change.

The drain hole where the motor is can get blocked which causes the motor to become submerged when it rains so check that.

Could also try swapping the purple relays over to check? When one was gone on mine swapping them meant the wipers either wouldn't stop or they would only work while holding the stalk on.

You can grab the relays from a scrappy, on both 306's and 406's there is a box section between the 2 engine fans on aircon cars that usually houses a couple of the same purple relays, if you can't find one with auto wipers.

If it isn't the relay, it could well be the wiper motor itself, it's a common fault.

There's a guide on here somewhere to checking/cleaning it and it's a pretty straightforward job (it must be, even I managed it Wink).

Had this problem with my 306 lx, sometimes the wiper would just stop mid-windscreen.

Spent time check relays, fuses and currents.

it turned out being the motor itself, cost me around £30 for the new motor and was very easy to fit.
Ordered it from http://www.findapart.com

hope this helps
