Hi All.

I'm happy to be back in a 306. My car history:
  • R Escort TD 5 door. GTi Replica
  • S 306 DTurbo-S.
  • 54 Fabia vRS (Ran 179bhp)
  • 05 C2 VTS
  • 306 GTi6!

  • Very pleased with the car. Picked it up last Friday. It's got extensive history, some with Pug specialist C.G. Cars, and a recent cambelt change. The 'clones are mint. The bodywork is mint baring a 10cm scratch on far side rear ¾ panel. It drives fantastic, and I've got a dyno printout here where it made 169bhp last Feburary.

    Bring on the pics...

Had it in @ my local garage today. I knew it had a Magnex Exhaust, and Group N Engine Mounts, but apparently it's got a "Rally-like" suspension setup the whole way through (Mechanic's words, not mine). Does the car look lower than normal to you? I knew the ride was as harsh as hell, but didn't realize this. What was reassuring from the visit though was that he said everything looked sound, and that quite a bit of money had been spent on it not to long ago. (Which after checking the history, the receipts back up).

Things wrong? Sure, it's a 10 year old car. It's had a big sound system in it at some point. Elements remain, such as a kickass Pioneer head unit, little tweaker speakers in the doors, and Sony Xplod door speakers, but it's got no rear speakers! First job is to source a standard parcel shelf with speakers still intact! I'm going to get some mats, as I hate the standard Pug rubber ones. I've also splashed the cash on a seat cover (I hate the feel of suede) for the driver's side, and a Pug themed tax disc holder!

Only other niggle is the dash facia. Around where the stereo is there are marks. Whether they had a tough time getting the standard stereo out, or getting the new one in, I'm not sure but they've damaged it. So will be looking to replace it with a new facia. (Shall I got silver or black?)
Also one little annoyance! The bulb behind the blower knob is out, so will be fixing that next week!

I'm leaning two ways with it TBH. I'm either going to do absolutely nothing, and sell it after Xmas. OR... keep it for a couple of years and make it what I want. If I decide on the latter I'll soon be doing the following:
  • Strut Brace (red)
  • Paint brake calipers red
  • Paint selected engine parts red
  • Dress up some engine bay pipes
  • Angel Eye Headlights
  • Rear Tints (Maybe)

  • And then on the wishlist...
  • Coilovers
  • FULL leather retrim (Or buckets)
  • Black Multi-Spoke 17"s
  • [bullet]What else? Brembos, Supercharger, rollcage?

First update for everybody. A very exciting "mod".

Basically the guy who had it before me had a big sound system in it. (I've got the receipt for it!). That's gone, and there's some good points to that (IE: He's left the fantastic pioneer HU behind), but some bad points 2 (There's no rear speakers). So to remedy the latter I used good ol' eBay to source a parcel shelf with speakers working and intact.

I took the trip up to Hull last night to pick up my £5 acquisition!

    Parcel shelf before:

    New Parcel Shelf:

I never have people in the back, nor my stereo very loud, so I guess it doesn't benefit me, but it sure did bug me!

Next, as I'm the last of the big spenders, was my £2 Tax disc holder (Another eBay gem), and my car mats. (These are two things I always buy for my cars immediately after buying the car, I don't know why, but not having a Pug, Ford, or whatever tax disc holder in my Pug, Ford, whatever, really bugs me. Do I have ADHD?!)

I went with carpet, did toy with check plating, but decided against:

I know the windscreen's dirty, you wouldn't believe I fully cleaned the damn thing yesterday? Then did a round trip to Hull...

That's my interior pretty much done now. Unless I decide to keep long-term (Which'll prolly see me have a full leather retrim @ Seat Surgeons)

All I want to do now is get a new silver centre bit, mine a little tatty (And again it's bugging me). So will try and source a good one of those, and set aside an entire day to change the damn thing over!

I had the speaker covers off the front today also whilst I was cleaning the interior, to find:

I had thought only the HU remained from the big ICE... guess I was wrong!

Also, for everyone in the know, these:

    Aren't standard are they?

Unless you want to go really low, or are racing, the current suspension sounds fine. Have fun driving Smile

Looks like a very nice example mate. I also have that tax disc holder. I guess we are both as sad as each other LOL

Funnily enough mine came with Pioneer speakers in the rear, until spitfire pointed out they were also in the front as they appeared yellow through the cover. I popped them off and low and behold, Pioneers in the front as well. It's a good feeling finding hidden gems Yes

Are the matts good quality? I've been thinking of getting some as a summer set but at about £55 a set I've decided against it for a while.

Yeah seem good quality. I've had this make before and all have worn well, but I tend not to keep my cars long enough to do proper tests!!

    Only cost 30ish 2 boot
