Guys,

I have a slight oil leak problem, but after a mechanic spending 3-4 hours looking for it then me and my dad spending 3 hours yesterday looking for it we are still no further ahead. Anyways, the oil is finishing of running down the corner of the sump at the back of the engine bay drivers side. I have had the crank seal replaced when the cambelt was done as this was the most obvious thing when I first had a look. Anyhow the leak is still there. THe mechanic that did the cambelt reckoned it was coming from the oil pump so back it went for him to do. After he looked for 3 hours he determined that it was coming from the corner of the engine seeping through the HG. So yesterday me and my dad got underneath and had a good look, cleaned all the old oil of and then started investigating. Anyway there did look to be a small amount of seepage at the hg joint but nothing like the amount that was pi**ing out when we first started the engine. It appeared to be running down the side of the cambelt cover. We did think maybe rear camshaft seal but there didn't look to be that much oil there. Anyway after the engine had been running for about 15 minutes the leak looked to have stopped!!! Therefore it must be where metal meets metal. Odes anybody have any ideas what could be leaking? as I am getting seriously frustrated as I don't seem to be able to find the source.

Thanks in advance.

Yea that was when we saw the oil running down the edge of the inside of the cover, where it becomes metal. Still couldn't see where it was coming from. Doesn't appear to have used any oil today though which is strange. Who ever heard of an intermittent oil leak?? :s
