when i fit my pipercross viper system the crankcase breather will need something doing with it. Not sure if the universal filter im getting has a connector to re-connect it. may just fit a mini filter anyway to vent to atmosphere.

Is it the pipe that runs from just past the throttle body into the plastic air filter set-up?

Its just that it seems to run into the back of the plenum rather than down towards the crank case area.

Also, i hear that venting will create an oily smell - im not too bothered if it doing it this way would create any sort of performance gain???

This is the filtered air for the ICV not the crankcase breather.

the breather is on the other side of the throttle body.

If it's the proper pipercross viper kit, they actually expect you to re-use the OEM airbox to throttle body pipe (which has the ICV piping etc. arrangement)... which I thought it was a bit cheeky. Dry Do you still have the standard airbox?

i will have the standard air box - im thinking i am going to set it up like (i think joker's) on this forum - with a reducer off the TB to an aluminium elbow and the air filter off that.

Now im thinking it will be easier, cheaper and nearly asgood just to use a silicone 90 bend with the filter off that.

I will have to just connect the ICV piping back to that i suppose - or should i stick a mini filter on?

that aside - any point in venting the crank case breather to atmosphere rather than re-circulating????

Cheers

well over time you do find crap building up in the throttle body with it breathing back into the inlet Yes

right - i have now ftted my induction kit and whilst working in that area noticed a lot of oil around the throttle body. When i got the pipework off there was a small amount of oil sat in the intake and just inside the throttle body housing.

After fitting my new kit, i took it off after a week and alreadt there was some oil inside (maybe half a tea-spoons worth!)

I know this is from the crankcase breather and im sure that can't be any good for the engine? Don't fancy venting it to atmosphere due to the smell and the fact that i dont want to be spraying oil all over tracks!

any recommendations for catch cans?

There are loads on ebay for around £30. I've got one, just not got around to fitting it yet. The 6 engine is a bit blowy at the cams, so you do get some oil moving down to the throttle.

sound - im going to get one now - they look good too and that oil cant be doing anything for the engine. 2 questions though...

1. Is the oil definately not oiling the throttle butterfly?
2. What do you do with the hole where the pipe would have fed the oil vapour back into the throttle body - surely this needs blanking off.
