Right It just stoped working the other monday. Its occasionally works for no resasion, than is cold frist thing and buy the time I have driven off the drive it has stopped again. Sad

I have changed the Speed sensor on the back of the gearbox and this has made no difference at all. Checked the plug and it has 12v and 10.3v and a earth on the middle one so that maybe ok. The dial does drive as sometimes when I turn on the HID's it makes them drive full deflection. So the dial has power. All the fuse's are OK too. The drive shaft and teeth that go into the box on the sensor looks ok. Cant see the one in the box, is this one prone to snapping or loosing teeth???

Can anyone help or has had simular experience. Its starting to p*ss me off.

The speed sensor in the gearbox works the speedo, so it will not affect the rev counter at all....

I suspect that either the dial itself has seen better days or maybe there is a loose connection at the rear of the cluster....

Stan.

You sure you mean Rev counter as per the title? Just all the things you mention only relate to the speedo, which is driven direct from the sensor on the diff housing.

The rev counter is 'driven' direct from a signal from the ecu. The most likely cause is a dodgy connection/wire, although it could be the ecu or dash is knackered.

Yea I do mean the Rev counter...... OH I see I was told the sensor on the back of the gear box Part no. 6160.70 was for the rev counter. Sad Thats money down the pan. I'll have to take tha dash apart then. Check the conections are made correctly.

Where does the rev counter get it feed from?

Does anyone have wiring diagrams for the Rallye on PDF They cound Email me???

The ECU sends out a pulse signal to the dash, the frequency of the pulse relates to the engine rpm, to check the signal you really need an oscilloscope. I have pin outs from the ecu but i don't think I have the wiring into the dash. I'll have a look.

Well I have access to a Oscilloscope and know how to use one too. So pin numbers maybe good and dash wiring maybe usefull too. Smile

Thats going to be a pain in the ass. As I will have to take the OMP strut brace off to take the lid off the box. Sad

Found the problem Smile the lower plug on the front passenger side near the bottom of the rad. One of the wire had been nicked and the salt water had corroded the wire away. How did i find it you ask. Well i was checking the wires and ended up with white powder on my fingers, a sure sign of corrosion of wires. So I cut out the corroded bit and soldered in a new bit, job done. Oh and it was the red one wire 426 iirc. Found out which one in another thread.

exact same problem i had before, the plugs near rad, disconeccted them, cleaned with WD40 and rev counter worked fine, but now has stopped again Sad
but i know itl be the same thing as the inner arches were missing from the car so the plugs were being soaked.fixed again now though
