If I was you i'd go for:GTi6 beam with torsion bars Hybrid rear ARB GTi6 front arb if it fits, which I doubt Xsara mk1 front springs GTI6 dampers all round Basically it will be a bit step up, but will be cheaper than the koni / eibach setup you are looking at. Remember you currently have very soft rear springs and possibly no anti roll bars at all. Also the TU engine is a lot lighter than the 6 lump so be careful what springs you buy. The xsara ones would probably suit it very well indeed. ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

atm standard wheels just got the car so im just looking into what to get for it etc its got a front anti roll bar not sure about rear ill take a look later and let u know. im just looking for sturdier ride but without sacrificing alot of comfort and also id like to lower it a tad why i was looking at eibach springs cause read there very good for low ride and good handling but still a comfortable ride and there not to much for set of 4 for 1.6 think there were around 90 pounds just the koni shocks are expensive like 500 pounds for all 4 front and back and want to get performace shocks cause standard shocks with the springs will make it a bouncier ride or so ive read anyway just do research into it before i buy anything so can get it right first time if possable |

These don't have rear coil springs - they have a torsion bar beam system so that will need to be reset to a lower level to match the front. You are right about needing to increase the damping rates to match stiffer springs yes. The eibachs are generally fairly similar to standard in their stiffness. The coilover harshness depends entirely on the springs fitted and how good the damping system works. I run coilovers on the road using 285lb springs and its not a harsh ride because the damping is bloody good. Not cheap those ones though. ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

I use AST Sportline 1 coilovers with a hybrid rear arb and standard rallye/gti6 torsion bars. That setup is around £1100, so similar to KW v2s, but you can choose your spring and damper rates to suit you.Bit overkill for normal road driving tbh - eibach front springs, GTi6 torsion bars with Bilstein B8 dampers all round and a gti6 rear arb will do you fine. I would steer clear of cheaper coilovers and get something known to work well, which the above setup does. ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

adam b Great posting O/P good posting too. Insurance and age prevent lots of people from getting a 6 but the 306 is a good handling car and moderate attention can give a real improvement. Upgrading with O/E parts is the way forward and not much money-Xsara Vts springs at the front-or eibachs and Gti 6 torsion bars with the beam lowered to match will do very well. O/E dampers are surprisingly good- if they are knackered even Unipart ones work very well. A 6 brake set up with braided lines will make a decent handling car into one which is capable of good point to point driving.________________________________________ New Forum same high quality intellectual debate!Team Zimmer™ |
