I thought that the engine wasn't running very smoothly today, no tapping noises but it fells like it is struggling or tight, its idling at 1000rpm and seems to chugg rather than purr. It has a K+N filter on it but no cold air feel but at stand still its not right.

Anyone any ideas on how to sort this?

Your K&N is pulling in a lot of hot air at stand still that might be causing some problems. General belief on here is that the only induction kits worth having are the sealed type with air feed!

Other than that if its not running right try giving it a good serviceUnsure when was the last timne it was done?

Lumpy idle is most likely down to the idle control valve (stepper motor). Clean it with carb cleaner and see if that helps.

just a thought but there is a black rubber pipe at the rear of the inlet manifold that the previous owner(s) has put in to the side of the K+N filter and if you cover the end of the pipe the cars engine stalls, idle control pipe maybe?
how do i finish this pipe being that its not meant to be like that?

Sounds to me like the previous owner didn't install the K&N correctly Doh



The ICV is located below the MAP. Is that the pipe you are on about?

sounds like the icv pipe has broken away from main air intake pipe

If its the breathes pipe for the idle broken off, it wont like it much. Just whack a small air filter on the end and blank the hole in the main filter pipe with tape. Smile

did the clutch myself and the steering rack, Passed the Mot with no advises!!
