Im looking at sorting a turbo kit out for my gti6. I run a renault 5 gt turbo at 18psi on standard internals, how come the standard gti6 lump cant handle it? The pistons and rods in the 5 are the same as used in the campus non turbo items! Has anyone tried running on standard items? Surely if the fuelling is set correctly then all should be ok. Any input from the peeps in the know would be great!!Big grin

The compression is too high and detonation will melt the pistons.

You can get up to 260bhp from between 7-9psi on std internals with a superchrger though.

So dropping the compression to a suitable level would be a winner? Not wanting to run 30 psi, just sensible level at less cost than supercharging.

From the amout of projects iv seen i would say yes they seem to be able to cope.

However im doing it the correct way with forged pistons rods.
Dp engineering do the plate iirc its around the 200 mark plus the cost of s16 pistons.

Forged pistons and rods will cost 900 max so you might aswell do them and then you can up the boost later if you want more power.

PS im currently looking to get a group buy for 5 exhaust manifolds and down pipes to be made. If i can get 5 peopl they should be around the £800 mark.
