I am at my wits end.
For ages now i have had a knock from what seems like the middle of the car, ie under passenger seat area.
I have had a look several times and can't see anything obvious.
It passed its Mot in October Ok when it was knocking in the same way.
I was hoping that it would fail and give me an answer!
I have had 2 different mechanics out for a drive in it, and then it has been bloddy quiet of course...
I thought of front rear beam mounts, but it seems further forward than that.
The sound is like somebody knocking on the underside, but you cannot feel any impact.
This is unlike when my old DTurbos mounts went when you could feel it as well.
I have a stainless exhaust from Cat back, and have checked this for any areas of conflict but to no avail.
Could it be the Cat itself?
Could it be the Gearbox mount?
It makes no difference whether there is weight in the car either, and I have heard it when I started the car once.

Yeah first i thought it was the heat shield but the noise is too deep for that, will take a chance and replace lower engine mount me thinks...

I am having the same problem, but the knock is coming from the drivers side. I can feel it through the clutch pedal when I depress the clutch and it knocks.

Again, similar problem, I took spitfire out and of course it didn't bloody knock LOL He then drove it himself and felt it.

I've yet to take it into a garage or have a look myself but I am hoping it will be something like a drop link/lower engine mount. At first I thought it may be exhaust related as it was blowing, but it's just had a new system put on and they checked it over and everything is fine Crazy

Does it tend to only knock approaching a junction in lower gears/speed and reversing?

Nah sounds like a different problem matey.

Doesn't knock under accel/decel, mainly over rough road at low speed, also can't feel it at all through chassis...

Doing my head in now...

Deffo sounds more forward than the rear beam mounts.

Exhaust also touches heavily and vibrates against heatshield when going around left hand bends with enthusiasm...

Problem solved!

Finally have a car i can enjoy again without resorting to 90db of music to drown out that bloody knocking!

After all that, I had a good rummage around and found the noise occuring when i bashed the Anti roll bar on the left side. Traced this to the droplink and the top knuckle had play in it.

Replaced for £ 14 and the noise has gone.

God how i hate that droplink star bit and spanner arrangement though......

Pull back the rubber and get the mouldy grips on it.
Don't even bother with the torx bit in the end.
