dun dun dun!

Aside from not having as much accuracy in how low you want to go, is this way of doing things really that bad? I've been searching the internet (mostly returning saxp and 106owners club threads) and there's always a myriad of people saying how bad the notch method is etc but no one ever seems to know anything more than that!
"UR BEAM WIL COLLAPS MYTE"

As far as my limited knowledge can make out, if the bearings/tube thing is already fecked then hitting the trailing arm/sliding it out will possibly make things worse?

But if not, then it is a good idea to just replace the seals, grease her up and be done with it?

I don't want to spend any money refurbing the beam (on 100k)unless it absolutely has to be done as the car is more of a cheap run around really.

Thanks in advance.

It's a gamble, if you're very lucky the bearings might still be alright. Or you could pull the trailing arm off and the remains of the bearings will fall out with it. LOL If that happens you'll need to get another beam or rebuild it anyway.

Personally I'd do it properly (rebuild it with new bearings/seals and trailing arm shafts if needed) or not bother at all.

As said if your going to the bother of knocking the trailing arms out at the very least replace the outer bearings and seals, new grease etc, you may find however that at least one if not both of the pins need replacing too
