Ok iv basically converted the inlet manifold on my 2.0 Ph3 Xsi and i have the exhaust manifold to go with it, but however my mechanic is telling me that i cant have the exhaust manifold fitted unless i move my engine forward, and he is telling me he wont do a job like this seen as there is too much involved, any views on this or if theres any easier ways of doing it, let me know.

Thats rubbish, i fitted the exhuast manifold on fine, you would neeed a heat shield to stop the bulk head heating up.

I also found that it touched a water pipe on the block, but noone else seems to have had that problem.

As above, it's the same engine block, the same basic head casting and all the mounts are the same.

There's a water pipe on the block that needs moving and you may need the heater matrix hoses from the GTi-6 too.

It'll be an expensive job in a garage though due to the size of the exhaust manifold and lack of access to the rear of the engine. The engine needs to be lifted out or the subframe dropped off to gain access. You'll need a GTi-6 catalytic converter too.

Get some good heat wrap to go around the hoses aswel as they may still touch the manifold and burst like mine did
