hi people.iv only had my gti 6 about 5 weeks now and im lovin it!!!! apart from induction kit and exhaust its mechanically standard.im looking at mods like race cams and stuff but my concern is the mileage, 143,000.im asking advice if because of the slightly high mileage is it a good or bad idea to start modding the engine and obviously putting more strain on it??? i know a few basic things about engines but not a huge amount so all advice and help is appreciated, thanks all |

Are you building race car then? There's nothing wrong with that mileage as long as the engine has been looked after properly. Have a look through the history and see how many services it has had and what was done on each, etc. ________________________________________ Rich |

Forget race cams then. They are for race engines. Have a search through the forums as there has been plenty discussed about tuning options, but for around 200bhp you'll be needing cams, throttle bodies and a custom map so probably around £1500-£2000 all in. ________________________________________ Rich |

Only prob really is the heat from the exhaust manifold eventually destroys the head gasket as the head starts to warp from over heating ! No way to tell how good a HG is until it starts to go either Seeing as your wanting 200bhp I would consider maybe a ported and polished head thats had a nice rebuild |

Forged rods and pistons, head work, cams, itbs and stand alone management would get you past 200bhp no probs bud |
