Hi folks.. on the move, my temp gauge hardly moves off 70. It climbs in traffic (and, as I discovered the other day, the cooling fans aren't working - seperate post for that; think they're just 'sticky'!!), but settles back at 70-75 once moving again.. What should the temp be on the move? Cheers! ________________________________________ 2000/W 306 GTi-6, Moonstone money-pit!! |

Mine sits at about 75, rises in traffic but as soon as I get movement again rests back at 75.There's loads of topics on this using the search button (top right). ________________________________________ 2006 Performance Blue Mondeo ST TDCI1999 Black 306 Rallye 1991 Lazer Green 205 1.9 GTi 2003 Blue Focus RS 1999 White 306 Rallye 1992 Red 205 1.9 GTi 1988 Red 205 1.6 GTi |

mine used to sit at 83 odd degrees all the time (when it held water that is)I'd fit a new thermostat, might be stuck open. ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

Did search on 'running temperature' and came up with nothing, but 'running temp' came up with a few! I agree with Stan. Stuck thermostat will sit at 70 in normal driving conditions and rise when in traffic, shouldnt go over the usual 97 tho as thats when fans kick in to cool down the water.Thermostats are designed to cut in at 82, regardless of whether you have an aluminium rad |

Not that bad to be honest. I'd say fans were more of a priority, overheat = almost certain HG failureA lot of people seem to have cars that run at 70 and general opinion is its not overly damaging to the car. Plus its quite cheap and easy to replace the thermostat - wont need to drain coolant if you are quick and don't mind a bit of spillage |
