If you want to do it properly, you will need nearer £10k Yes

You could do it the cheap way, 406 sri turbo engine. This engine was designed as a cruiser though, so you won't be able to achieve lots of power.

If I was to do it, would have to be a DP engineering manifold, forged pistons, the lot.

PM Binka on here as he has turbocharged his gti6, and has had it done properly Thumbs up

Tom's turbo (binka)

I think turbos are largely un-done, there's a handfull of people who have gone out and done the works with forgies and rods custom engine management etc and also DP engineering have done a few on the stock bottom end with a decompression plate. There's alot of talk of the 6 engine being to high compression but... There's plenty of K20 honda engines turbo'd on stock comression ratio of 11.5:1 running low boost, also a friend of mine has a B18 out of an integra type r which I beleive has a compression ratio of 10.6:1 running a low boost turbo setup in his CRX. So all in all on a 6 engine with some clever mapping and reasonable boost it maybe possible for a high compression turbo conversion. Still... I don't know about the XSI engine and it may not work out worth it in the end.

Turbo, not trubo,

and terminology. LOL

You can make a turbo manifold out of a stock manifold modified suitably, and some extra tubing. That makes it cheaper straight away.

Picking up an oil feed for the turbo will be another thing to look at, its certainly do-able, but be prepared to buy rods/pistons, have the lot balanced, different cams, at least exhaust cam anyway.

To warrant going turbo id be looking for 400bhp minimum, then you've got the problem of gearbox and clutch issues.

You'll need a lot more than £900. Not to mention the extra insurance premium; Or would you not bother declaring the supercharger along with your previous motoring convictions? Wink

LOL He said on his other thread that he wasn't declaring his 6 points because it added too much to his insurance premium.

You have to have quite deep pockets mate to do this, just about to put my new con rods in to up the boost again to around 1.8 bar, you would need to uprate clutch, mine is £500 and a racing diff, i use kaaz another £600 or so.

Turbo was £1k but custom built for my spec, could run something smaller in there.

How come its costing so much with out the cost of forged bits and saving money on manifold?
