Hey all, realise its not a 6 and the advert is up on 306.net also but they are not always as good at replying as on this site.

Problem is as follows...

Having some really annoying idle problems at the moment which only seem to be getting worse with time.

Car initially having problems starting and then the idle counter goes crazy and cuts out almost immediatley after starting the engine.

Car also cuts out when coming up to junctions when dipping the clutch and braking, rev counter dips right down and cuts out.

Extremely frustrating having to restart the engine mid motion and the stearing goes all heavy with the PAS pump going off at the same time!

Now i heard it can help cleaning my Idle control valve but im having trouble locating it....

Here is a photo of where i think it is, has a small red arrow there pointing to it.....is that it?? Has magnet marelli written on the underside of it...

Forgot to mention that this part also appears to be making some sort of weird sound after i switch the engine off, like a slight buzzing or what sounds like liquid being slurped....thanks again Wink

Im told by my brother who incidently is a VW Golf enthusiast....(says it all really doesnt it) not to use carb cleaner as the valve has to have lubrication and carb cleaner will strip everthing??

When people say clean it, should i just pop the valve itself into a bowl of cleaning fluid and leave for a time or take the valve apart itself and clean the bits?

Cheers

Just clean it as it comes out of the inlet, don't pull it apart or try stripping down.
I used WD40 to clean mine, and some fine wet and dry to clean up the carbon of the end of the piston bit.
