best off having a search in each are of the general routes that people take with regards to engines and suspension etc, you'll get a picture of what the general consensus is at certain breaks in the price of things.

as its a 16v xsi most of the tuning options are identical to the gti6, the gains you'll get over a standard engine will be higher than the same mods to a gti6, depending on what you go for of course, I mean in the way of cams bodies or even boost.

I would avoid anything cheap myself, dampers I would spend around 400 on, coilovers I'd save up to about

There is a huge amount of info on here, and a lot of cars have been made track ready. The search function in the top right corner of the page will get you a lot of info to work on.

Look at

Replacing bushes
Bilstein dampers B4/B6 are good
Some Eiback 35mm drop springs
Lower back beam by 35mm - lots of fun
Xsara/205 dampers on the back
Uprated Tortion bars
Hybrid rear ARB

Solid rear mounts if you dont like the standard ones.

Uprated brake pads, or a big brake conversion

Toyo 888 tyres

If your lift off oversteer is excessive, its usually down to old rear beam mounts allowing too much movement. You can reduce it by replacing them with new standard mounts or you can opt for solid, both will retain the lift off oversteer characteristic to a greater or lesser degree but you will have much more control and in time may learn to use it to your advantage to cancel out the inherant understeer found on most front drivers. I've got/had nearly all of the above (Except I'm on GAZ coilovers now not Bilstein) and I can fully agree, money spent on quality mods will reap huge rewards on track Wink

thank you so much. that was pretty much the answers i was looking for.

dont worry i am using the search button. so far my list of jobs to do is -:

bilstein shocks with eibach springs all round
uprated droplinks
hybrid arb
solid rear beam mounts
21mm torsion bar

ive also got ferodo ds2500
with uprated fluid, eiher dot5.1 or ate super blue.

oh, the tyres on there are awful. so they are also on the list.

and thank you for the first responce
ive been trying to find weather the engines and brakes are the same. and i just havent been able to find it anywhere.

but your reply makes me think that the bsic engines are the same. so if i swapped say manifolds, cams and map. id have the 170bhp like the rest of you.

and using the search button i think i can bolt gti-6 calipers on then use the entire brake set up?

again, thanks for all the answers. its really helped me.
