Hi

I need to urgently source some 86.6mm (1.5mm, 1.5mm, 3.0mm) piston rings for an XU10J4RS engine thats had a rebore. The oversive pistons look as though they are OE Peugeot Items but I'm struggling to find anyone that keeps this size rings on the shelf.

I have tried my local Peugeot parts man, who was less than helpful, so I'm hoping someone on here has an idea!!

If anyone knows the Pug part number for this size ring, that would be ace!

Thanks

Stu

It'll be 86.5 afaik, are the pistons marked?

what I found I had to do was buy a 2.0 Mi16 ring set and swap the middle ring for a suitable one as its too thick, the other two are fine.

The engine is not currently with me, but from memory he said the pistons were marked "12PDC" "86L32 + 2"

actually, looking at TRW's listings it looks like .25 is first oversize and .6 second.

Goetze Piston Ring Kit 0.6 for RFY engine - 08-154608-00

they are 1.5 - 1.75 - 3.0mm.

So, as you say, swap the middle one?

yeah, I had the problem that the RS engine wasn't listed in the ring catalogue, the guys I used just swapped the middle ring for a suitable one.

Miles on here (he runs Pugracing) said that Goetze rings are available but he didn't say if it was a set, might be worth asking Miles if that was the case.

you could of course just go to Peugeot and order rings off them, but their price is silly for rings!

which is odd as the bearings generally aren't too bad.

I ordered some Goetze rings but the middle ring was too big (xsi I belive, has 1.5mm top and middle rings). I ended up with some rings for a Vauxhall 2.0 XE (Redtop I think) engine that uses the same size piston and rings as an XU10J4RS, they worked fine. Whether they do them in 86.6mm I am not sure, I bought them in standard 86mm size. Can't remember who I got them through, I think it was QEP...

Goetze for the XE are listed as .5 and 1.0 oversize not .6 Sad

RFV engine (XSi) is listed as being the same ring set as the MI16, i.e 1.5 - 1.75 - 3.0.

Aye thats right, GTi-6 is 1.5-1.5-3.0, so the middle ring was .25 too big.

Any idea if you can buy rings individually?
