hello guys my partners 206 this morning stated to stall during gear changes and when cluch was down. really refusing to idle. i am assuming it needs a new stepper motor.
i spoke to a friend of mine and he said the new stepper motor need to be calibrated before you fit it otherwise it wount work.
is that correct? i tho u just needed to replace for a new one and off you go.

when you fit the new stepper motor if its the same as a 6 then it will rev to about 4000 revs, then cut, start it again should rev to about 3000revs, then 2000, then should idle properly!

But im pretty sure if you remove the battery whilst doing it then it should reset the ecu!

Hope this helps dave

Dave is right it will idle rough for a while as the car is adjusting to the new stepper, you can always reset the ECU once is has calmed down if problems still arise.

Try giving the stepper a clean with carb cleaner first before buying a new one.
