My 6 won't start...

Went to unlock it this morning and the remote central locking wouldn't work...

Opened it with the key, tried starting it. It turns over fine but won't fire.

Thought maybe the battery was knackered. Tried a new battery, still no good.

Replaced the battery in the keyfob. Still not starting.

I've found a blown 5A fuse in the fusebox under the steering wheel but not sure what this one is for. Put a new fuse in and it blew immediately when I tried starting it again. One thing to mention is that the fuel gauge isn't working now so presume the blown fuse is related.

It wouldn't bump start either.

Any ideas??

that fuse is for immobiliser, wont start without it! (becoming a regular occurance on here?). You'll find the clock won't work, gauges on dash and boot light. Best to isolate each thing in the circuit (remove boot light bulb, clock etc) so you know what the problem is

Car is fixed.

I replaced the fuse again just on the off chance the one I put in yesterday was duff, started fine!

Complete mystery but at least it's working again!
