right i have an engine idle prob , sits between normal idle 1000rpm jumps to 1500rpm then drops to 800rpm and sometimes cuts out . It drives fine no loss in power etc just the dodgy idle . Now i had got a different map sensor and idle control valve ( stepper motor ) tried these but no joy so put my originals back in and sold the new parts back on . Is there anything else i can check ?? as im puzzled now |

Have you tried testing the connectors for the sensors on the actual loom? Shot in the dark maybe but over in the FAQ section there is a post on testing sensors and the connectors... if your ICV is getting a dodgy feed becuase of notoriously bad french wiring, that could be your problem |

Spencer had the same problem on a Xsara VTS and changing the green water temp sensor cured it. I am in the same boat as you guys but need a part number coz my local pug dealers are shit!________________________________________ Team no GTi 6 |

i had the same, i put a little icv/feeder filter on the pipe between the icv and the air feed to the inlet, worked a treat and had no issues with it again. |

i'm getting a crap idle and also the car keeps losing power, diag came up with lambda so i've ordered a new one of those, also scrounged a fuel pump from the scrappy. if that lot doesn't sort it i'll try the green sensor, i have two of those in the garage. are the coolant sensors on the 1.8 same as those on the 2.0? |

Was out last night driving about for a while car was doing the usual idleing dodgy , then all of a sudden it idle'd perfect for the rest of the night! .. think i will try a wee filter on that pipe see if that helps any aswell if not will need to start changing the likes of the green water temp etc lol :S |

I had the same problem. Only solved it by getting one of them little breather filters to go onto the ICV, worked a treat________________________________________ '01 Astor Grey GTi6'99 Cherry Rallye |
