Right have everything plugged in correctly as far as I can tell, engine will turn over but the fuel pump doesn't prime on ignition. Have searched forum and have found some info but have a few questions.

a - Does the immobiliser stop the pump priming?
b - Does the crank sensor stop the pump priming?
c - Will the GTi engine and loom happily run an XS pump?

Car is xs converted to vts with gti loom, ECU is unlocked, earths are good as far as I know, and bridging the relay on the back of ecu box didn't start pump, revs aren't shown on counter when cranking. There is also a double click on 2nd ignition from around the ABS unit and a single click from 2nd to 1st stage.

Any help would be much appreciated need this back on the road asap.

Thanks

Cheers welshpug, so do we think maybe it has immobilised? Can anyone think of anything else that will stop pump priming?

Have tried pressing it, I did wire that on in myself as it was missing of the loom I got, but the connection is good and have tried wires both ways round just in case, still nothing. Are the clicks from around the ABS anything to do with it?

very much doubt it, the ABS it totally separate to the engine wiring.

Yeah that makes sense, does that mean I'm in for another problem when it is running? I don't think the clicks are normal :S . and any further ideas on fuel I'm at a total loss.

Engine was 1998 xsara VTS, loom is I think 1999 GTi6 but was bought on its own so I'm not sure and car is 1999 XS. Rich W did it for me along with socketing but due to unforeseen circumstances the engine has been fitted with the standard chip and two pins cut which Rich says is fine.

Edit: Scratch that loom is an unknown entirely. Have continuity between pin 6 and inertia switch, and nothing to fuse 9 which I thought was fuel pump but I have no specific wiring diagram!

so it should be unlocked just fine then.

I'd be checking that the ecu is getting power, does the engine management light come on on the second click?

Correct! Have now reseated the chip and have got the ECU light on, but it doesn't go out and fuel pump still doesn't prime, have tried 12v straight to pump and it is fine.
