Hi,

I've only had my Gti-6 (99 plate) for 4 weeks and have had a major problem from when the engine is cold(i bought the car of someone in Scotland and the engine was warm when i bought it, so it didn't happen until i drove 3 hours home).
When the engine is cold it starts up fine and ticks over lovely. Problem starts when you set off, the engine jerks/cuts out and feels like it's struggling for fuel. The engine light comes on and it stalls. Once the engine is warm it doesn't seem to do it, although it has done a few times. The ECU has been remapped. I have changed the fuel filter and treated the fuel with cleaner, i have tried running Optimax in it. I have changed the sparks plugs and engine coolant temp sensor. It has a new
lambdar sensor already fitted(been checked). It's been to 2 garages who have ran diagnostics and it shows no faults!!!?? The second garage however did say it could be the ECU is damaged?? It is now in a 3rd garage who are still scratching their heads and now they are saying it could be a electrical fault and they are suggestion changing the block where the sensors are.

This is now getting annoyingly expensive and i haven't even come close to solving the problem, so if any of you's have any ideas please HELP...

How has it been remapped? Piggy back ECU?

Does it cut out as soon as you bring up the clutch?

Sounds like it was mapped when it was warm, so they didn't bother with the cold start table

Yes it does cut out when you dip the clutch but only when it's cold?
