have been trying to place a problem(see droning noise sorted thread) and have jacked up pug and with car in first turned wheel back and forth to see if theres play in shaft, my question is how much play should there be ? and is there any other way to check this ? i have tried turning wheel in neutral to check for clicking noise and there is none on either side ,(read that here on forum) any help greatly received ,
cheers

I wanted to ask the same thing, i've been looking and checking for wear and tear before and drive shafts are next on my long list of things to think about replacing.

I took the n/s wheel off to have a look the other day with the car in first, turned the disk gently until it stopped (about 1 inch or so) then tried turning a little more as I was under the impression that's where the 'play' was. Mine move less than 1mm but I wasn't sure what I was looking at was the right thing...
