My Rallye had a new cat recently, however not sure if this could be a factor in my car's new problem. The engine sometimes cuts out / has no power momentarily. Then has full power with a BIG jolt.

I thought it maybe the lambda sensor however I read here it could be the TPS....

Someone please give me a heads up.. problem is making my life miserable. It feels like I'm beating up my poor car.

Driving along at a low rpm approx 2000-2500, pressing the throttle a little bit with a slight loss of power...

Press a bit more, then the engine gives the power. Not a massive jolt, but enough to notice. As if there was no drive, then as much as you would normally have at that throttle position.

Quite difficult to describe, perhaps this will help. lets say we were using 20% of the avalible power to drive at 30mph in 2nd gear. You increase the power to 40% however nothing happens. After 1-2 seconds the 40 % is delivered all at once. Resulting in a jolt, when it is usually a nice progressive smooth change.

Only really happens when the engine is cold, it has stalled around 6-7 times. Sometime boggs down then recovers, only in the lower RPM. Only when the engine is cold.

Before the cat was replaced it never missed a beat (except a cam belt snap - another story) but hassle free driving for 2 years.

I took it to "Autocenter" near to where I live for MOT/interim service, failed MOT so forked out for a new CAT. This was in December 30th ish, then the very cold weather hit.

Took it back in only to be told, their diagnostic kit couldn't talk to my car, was advised to take it to Peugeot. Very unhappy with the service. I would imagine a Peugeot diagnostic is quite expensive, that's if they can still sort out a 12 year old car?

Tps could be a good bet. There not expensive so try that as it may not be sending the engine revolutions data.

Aswell as that clean the other sensors: Icv etc all located on the throttle body and in that area.

Lambda sensor not sure if it would cause this but it may have been damaged when they fitted the new cat. It's sounds a very minor fault within them areas nothing major.

Cheers for that, Autopoint said they cleaned out the throttle body, as it was all clogged up. Perhaps something got loose. What would I use to clean connectors? Have to say I'm not really sure what I need to do...Sad.

I had the same problem. Mine occured when it was cold and wet so I suspect an earthing problem. Also suspect exhaust leak somewhere which messes around with the lambda readings. Also worth testing the green temp sensor. Clean the Map sensor.

If you find out what it is pls msg me

No probs, I will. Hoping to get a diagnostic, from somewhere near Sutton Coldfield Birmingham. Just hoping my great car doesn't cost me a fortune, again.

I was going to get it looked into, but very busy at work. Now the weather is a bit warmer it is almost back to normal.

Yesterday the car never missed a beat. So I think it was just getting used to it's new cat/cold weather???

Honest answer is I have no idea, really feel it may be time to stop spending money on it. Just hope it lasts just one more year, maybe 2??

Cheers,

Rich
