whats the steering like without power steering?
i fancy removing mine for less weight but im unsure on:

if i remove the ram i think the tyre will rub on a six speed box?

just a case of making a manual tensioner and shorter belt?

Depends on your suspension setup as to how heavy it will be.

It will rub yes without the ram. Could weld the rack to stop that.

I'd have thought so - can't recall offhand.

sod all extra weight tbh compared to other parts you could lose, more benefit from spending a little more cash on wheels lighter brakes etc.

is it a rally car with a nice tight diff? I'd keep the PAS if so Smile

S16 non a/c alternator bracket is ideal for this as its a hell of a lot lighter and easy to fab an adjuster using 8v 205 alternator adjuster rod, you would need the top engine mount bracket as well as its a 2 part one on nthem.

I removed the aircon and power steering from my old car.

Removing the ram will scrape the box on full lock. but it doesnt take long to remeber how far you can turn the wheel.

In terms of heavyness you will gain muscles in your forearms pretty quickly when dry steering/ moving slowly.

When driving faster i prefer no PAS. It picked up the revs alot quicker as i was running alternator to crank without tensioners.

Car doesn't have a diff and will be mainley for track, although will be used for a bit of b roads, a lot of engine bay is already stripped off so thought a bit more weight and, inertia from the crank would be good, will see what I think as I havnt done much lately as my garage is full and it's allways dark lol
