My Xsara VTS seems a bit reluctant to start most mornings when it's been stood overnight. It always does start within a couple of seconds and runs perfectly afterwards but it feels like it bogs down on the first revolution before starting on the 2nd or 3rd. It's not a battery issue, it has a newish one and it doesn't feel like that, it's more like it's a fuelling thing like it takes a second to sort out the correct mixture or somethingCrazy

It's kind of hard to explain and it's not a big deal at all as like I say, it always starts but I'm selling it soon so whilst it's never bothered me that much it probably would bother a potential buyer! Any ideas what could be causing it? Stepper motor issue maybe?

Shit, that's worryingUnsure And there's me banging on about it being no big dealLOL

Was that your only symptom though? As I say, it runs fine otherwise and isn't down on power? Doesn't seem to lose coolant or anything either.

Ok, finally got round to doing a compression test and it was fineHappy I've also noticed that it doesn't do it when you turn on the ignition and then give it a few extra seconds before starting it, have I accidentally bought a dieselLOL

What might be causing that? It's got me stumped.

Are you letting the fuel pump prime before you go over to third click , or are you a key in and ram it right round to start kind of guy ?

If so its pretty acceptable for it to not fire right away as it will have zero fuel pressure until the pump has primed.

Well, I don't start it THAT quick I don't think; it's sort of hard to picture it now but whatever I've been doing has worked for the last 10 years! I wonder if the fuel pump is taking slightly longer to prime than other cars I've driven so I'm noticing a lag?
