Hi all
i have a 306 gti6 engine that i am hoping to have installed into my 205 gti the problem that i have is that the engine has just been put back together having all new valves and will only rotate

They have hydraulic tappets yes.

your bottom pulley will have slipped on the rubber insert and timimg mark will be wrong in relation where it should be. If you timed the engine up in this way and its locks up then it will be valves hitting pistons

Use a new crank pulley to time up the engine.

Rich W sells lightweight ones on here, better and cheaper than peugeot
