hi guys, wanting some advice here,

my cambelt is due a change (2.0 16v) and im psyching myself up for it, though i read in the Heinz manual there is a choice of a manual or dynamic tensioner , going off what the book said i should have the dynamic tensioner though my experience of these books tells me not to trust anything, I really don't fancy prodding / twisting the belt to check tension but would rather i had / could fit a dynamic tensioner, however my parts supplier says they only list the manual tensioner for my car,

so my question is......
can i get / fit a dynamic tensioner if i haven't one already?
if so what else may need to be changes as a result ?

cheers for any help Cool

Theyre both manually tensioned but the "dynamic" tensioner as you call in has an indicator to help set the correct tension. You need to ask for the 137 tooth setup if you want that tensioner, someone will be along with the part number soon im sure.

dynamic tensioner = plastic 137 tooth setup = pretty crap.

you need to take the timing belt cover off and check which you have, though IMO I would fit the 136 kit regardless, you would need to buy a stud for the tensioner to bolt to if it was the 137 kit on there and you want to use the 136 one, it's about

the 1.8 used them briefly, hence the mention of them in the manual, the gti6 wasn't covered in the Haynes unfortunately.
