Help please guys!!!

Last year i changed all my pads and discs a few corroded pipes on the rear and a new compensator since then (dont think it was doing it before??) My pedal is rock hard when not running then drops slightly on start up and if i keep the pressure on the pedal still keeps going down?? I have put a new vaccum pump on changed the master cylinder and tried another abs unit!

Anyone got any ideas ?

The pedal will get hard when the car isnt running, then when you start it, the pedal will sink, thats how the system works.

So does mine, but it doesnt loose fluid and the brakes work fine when driving, is there actually any issue while on the road?

No fluid loss so same as your saying! it stops on a pin but sometimes the pedal goes quite a way down on braking and other times not so far (not consistant level)

Just that sometimes it feels a bit un nerving when I need to stop quickly and the pedal nearly hits the floor!Shock

I had the same symptons, but mine got to the point where the servo was that shagged, it made the brakes come on, i changed everything on the brake system, inlcuding the brakes, thinking it was them that where seized or leaking.

My heatermatrix was also on its last legs, so when i had the dash out, i replaced the servo and it cured the problem.

I got away with just the top engine mount, but if i was to do it again, then i would do the gearbox side aswell, just for the extra bit of room.

Reet, have now changed the servo ( spent a fookin packet on this prob now,m/c,abs pump, compensator and vac pump)And it is still the same! Starting to think that it is a dodgy master cylinder. Is there any way of testing them?

sounds like the M/C is letting fluid past one of the seals if the pedal sinks to the floor and there's no fluid loss, only thing left it can be really.

Yeah my thoughts too. Just hope the parts supplier will exchange it! I have been chasing this for months now.

It does not sound like the MC seals if it doesnt sink when the car is not running?

Just read that, so it could be the master cylinder?

I too have the same problem & I will be fitting a new MC shortly so It will be interesting to see if it helps.
