Any idea how much (roughly) it would cost to get the front passenger-side suspension rebuilt, with at least a new spring?

Nasty 'mechanical' sound last weekend, followed by lots of smoke and a blown tire looks like it resulted form the spring coming loose from its mount with the hub.

I suspect the car may be FBER as a result, but keen to get views before I do anything.

it is recommended you replace both sides. Yes

you may aswell upgrade while you are there if funds alow?
there are a few sets of uprated shocks for sale and springs in the for sale section.

or if youd rather stay standard, Bilstein B4's from ECP Are Fairly priced, and the likes of Carl AKA 'Mechanical repairs' from here can sort you out some springs Thumbs up

If you get springs dont go to POTN or eibach-suspension, they are shite!!

get them from roadrunner motorsport, part number e7011-120 (eibach pro kit)all in and next day delivery for 112.90!

by the sounds of it its not the spring thats f*cked its the shock! Has the pan on the shock slid down the shock. Simple terms, the part that the bottom of the spring sits on. I can imagine the weld has gone causing the spring and springs base to slide down the shock which then popped the tyre?

Thanks all for the advice - and the replacement shock and spring J - arrived yesterday.

Any idea what torque the bolts should be tightended too - or does it not matter much?

It's in the haynes. For the pinch bolts it's less than you would expect.

55Nm or 41lbft (I THINK) I would check this first though.

Haynes just seems to say "the required torque". Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place...?
