If I try and get the 6 into 5th, it does not move up and right. If I try and get reverse, even with the pull-up thing pulled up, the reversing lights do not come on.

She's still a non-runner so I thought it might be just the gearbox in an odd position, but it's been towed twice and neither time after stopping could I select 5th or reverse.

Am I looking at a new box? How hard would this be to repair with my very experienced dad?

Cheers!

I'm still having a problem with 5th and reverse!

I've now put a new box and engine in, the linkages are definately on right but I still cannot get these gears with the stick!

If I take off the biggest linkage I can select them on the gearbox, so I think it's the stick. Anyone know what it could be?

I will investigate the ball joint in the centre console on friday.

Cheers!

Id better just state the obvious..just in case.

Is the reverse cable definately connected to the box?

If i remember correctly if it not connected you wont be able to get 5th and 6th as well.

Did you check the clutch ? when my clutch had bust i couldnt select reverse gear, and the 2nd time it could hardly change gear, this time around its the same aswell.

Try it with the engine off and see if it goes in.

I take it the reverse cable is the silver one - this was connected no problem.

There was a cable included with the car, I will check it to make sure.

If I take the gear stick gator off, will I be able to check the reverse cable?

Cheers, Matty.

Just had a look, I can get all gears!

I must of had the cable off last time, but it's definately working fine now!

Thanks for any help, Matty.

Nah, I knew it wasn't a duff off you!

It was doing it before so it must of been the reverse cable. Why do Peugeot have to do strange and weird things?

I'm buying a 1.0l Micra.
