Hi there,

Im keen to drop a complete GTI6 engine and gearbox into my 1.8 XSI estate. Will the engine just drop straight in, or will it be a major project?
I heard mention of having to change the power steering (?), the heater matrix (?), and potentially a few more bits? Maybe a 'standard' 5 speed 2.0 16v would be a better choice?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as i have no clue...

My car is R-reg, just incase that makes any difference. I read another thread which said something about the phase number being important with regards to the ecu?

Never owned an estate or xsi. Most people on here already own a gti 6/ Rallye.

Would it not be better to buy one?
