I'm in the process of refitting my passenger airbag currently. My question is concerning the 2 pin orange wiring connector on the airbag. Is there a set orientation or can it be connected either way round? Unsure

A swift answer would be much appreciated as I need to get it back together but I don't wish to decapitate my passenger as the result of an electrical issue.

Thanks in advance,

Joe.

Nah, it isn't keyed. Sad

The pins on the plug are numbered 1 and 2 but there's no markings on the recepticle on the airbag. No

With the airbag out I have an enormous hole in the dashboard and look like a pikey. LOL

If anybody has any photos of the back of the airbag and the connector that would be equally helpful. There are pictures of that area in the heater matrix FAQ but unfortunately the author was a cheap skate and bought a Rallye, hence no mention of a passenger airbag. Roll eyes

Hmm North is not an option I fear. LOL

This is what I am faced with:

It's quite hard to illustrate but in order to allign with the connector on the airbag, the plug will either be positioned like this:

or like this:

I seem to think it's the first arrangement as the wiring is far more comfortable sat this way and It seems familiar. Unsure

Apologies for the picture quality.

Thanks for the replies btw.

Just plug it in. If you get an airbag light you've done it wrong. Like you said It will probably go in the in the way that 'feels' more 'natural' but then again it is French.

Looking at that gaping hole is making me want to fit a poverty model top glove box to regain some storage space.

I might give that a go then. I think it fits like the first photo but I'm not certain. I don't like messing around with airbags so I'll plug it in and stand well back whilst switching the ignition on. LOL

Plenty of storage space to be had under there though. My phase 1 306 had epic combined glovebox space. Wink

that plug looks to me like it would only fit properly on way, the wallye has what appeared to be a blanking plug about 6" further back down the cable from there, might have been a resistor as the Airbag light went out after I plugged it back in LOL

It looks like it will fit either way but I shall investigate further tomorrow. Thanks. Smile

I didn't realise Peugeot just bodged a resistor in there to get rid of the airbag light on the Rallyes. LOL

look at the second picture, the concave part is larger on one side than the other I think.

not 100% if it was a resistor, but certainly plugged in and was orange, probably just to keep it tidy LOL

Yeah, I see what you mean now. Not sure if it's just the dodgy lighting in the pic though. I'll have a gander tomorrow.

Resistors are nice and cheap, keeps the cost down on the lesser models. Whistle

Right, I got it sussed and just finished putting it back together. I found the marks caused by the earth lead clip when I removed it so I knew where that was attached. With the earth lead refitted, the main plug would only reach far enough for it to plug in one way (as in the third pic in my above post) so that must have been where it was before. Reconnected the battery and the airbag light is no longer on and it didn't explode. LOL Happy

Thanks everyone. Thumbs up
