just been for a drive on the b roads and noticed that under heavy braking on bumpy roads the steering goes quite shakey. its lowered 40mm on shocks and springs with 17"s on 40 profile tyres. theres no nocks or rattles. any ideas what this could be?thanks ________________________________________ fixed my heaters and found out my aircon works |

brake discs more likely mate, they can do that if they are abit warped under heaving braking. ...i think. ________________________________________ Team allesclar ® |

more often than not when disks are warped the brake pedel pulsates up and down rather than the steering shaking under braking, However it does happen sometimes ad i had a shogun in the other day with this problem and new disks cured it. You can either do that or have them skimmed (providing their above minimum thicknes) if you think this is the trouble.________________________________________ Black power baby! What offset are the wheels, as spacers may upset the geometry particularly when the suspension is compressed. How are the tyres, I had a cooper "s" (BMW type) on low profile tyres and it was very squirelly and inclined to dart about under braking when only half worn at the front- a front to rear change confirmed that the tyres were the problem as the little worn rears did cure the problem. So, if by unstable/shakey you mean directionally unstable try the tyres first- if you mean literally shaky back off until you have checked all the suspension/steering joints and mounts as something is probably loose or fubared! ________________________________________ New Forum same high quality intellectual debate!Team Zimmer™ |
