Driving off this morning noticed a strange sound coming from the front and feeding slightly through the steering...

Kinda like a dull clicking noise when accelerating briskly.

It was not there at all yesterday, yet today it's impossible to miss. Is it the driveshaft?

It could be the driveshaft, yet it could also be many things.
possibly a collapsed wheel bearing, mahoosive stone in tyre tread, wheel balancing combined with low tyre pressure can cause similar symptoms, worn out cv joint, gearbox could even be at fault, and so on hope you find out what it is.
good luck matey Smile

Mike - that could be worn engine mounts.
