my new rebuilt zx 16v engine ,

cat cams
block decked
3rd valve angle cut
lighted fly wheel
balanced bottom end
gti6 box
ported and gas flowed head
fully rebuilt , every gasket and seal new
new pullys
set up for 45 weber carbs
alloy sum fitted
forged pistons and rods
new lifters
new coil packs
mocal oil cooler kit




waiting for -

new coolant hoses
alloy bottom pully
final engine clean and prep ,
new dip stick

i would like to know your thoughts , i have spent alot of time doing this engine for my citroen lol ,

yeh all work has been done by my self apart from the decking and boring e,c,t lol and gas flowing

but all the rebuild work e,c,t done by me and my misses

Why carbs? is this going to be a road motor or track hack? what about emissions with mot if its road lump, i know the power can be had with carbs, but what about drivability? surely to get the most from them you need a decent ignition set up, what yours going to run? Your not too far away from me either.

its going to be for road and also track use , as for mot , i cant see why when it is set up correctly on a roading road it wont pass even if i have to detune it for mot , and i will also remove all the engine numbers so they have to carry out a default test which is higher limits

Im no mot tester for sure, but i think even on the 'de-fault' test you'd struggle to get carbs through, you just dont have the part throttle fuelling control of injection. You could all ways claim that the engine is pre-cat, so more lenient on emissions side? be interesting to see how it goes.

Ive put a deposit on the 1st parts for my engine build today.

and its a 1993 so has to have a cat fitted

I dont see any ECU in your setup - OEM tuned?
As for emissions - E85 does the trick usually

If you get a dummy receipt to show that the engine was bought, and is earlier than 1993, the MOT stations test to whatever is older, the car or the engine, that what im lead to believe anyway.

Some people wont agree with me on this, but im going 88mm stroke, 88mm bore, for 2139cc, 11.5:1 compression, reasonably stock head, just clean the ports, 3 angle seats, maybe un-shroud the valves if needed to improve low lift flow, throttle bodies, management, there will be room for big cams with the pistons im using, but i dont want to go wild, keep costs down a little, keeping a stock exhaust cam and going with a little more lift and duration on the inlet side. I dont want an engine that i have to rev the tits off to get it moving, im 'aiming' for 210 ish bhp with emphasis on drive-ability and torque.

It will probably end up costing me as much as a low boost supercharger conversion, difference being i want to have the experience of building the engine. The cams would be an area that could be improved on funds and time permitting.

mxcrazy, DSrSarty on the 205 drivers forum has a similar spec engine producing over 230 bhp and about 190 lbft's with a stock exhaust cam, Peter Taylor stage 1 inlet, sandy brown/colin satchel throttle body inlet and emerald ecu.
